Great Ocean Adventures is situated on Vancouver Island, which is home to the best cold water diving in the world. Consequently, we can help you plan and book a dive adventure that will be unforgettable!
God's Pocket is quite simply the best cold-water diving in the world.
The only resident of Hurst Island, BC, God's Pocket is located 12 miles north of Port Hardy and accessible only by boat. Divers are generally picked up in Port Hardy on the evening before the first dive.
Excursions to God's Pocket include three boat dives each day, tanks and weights, fantastic meals, optional night dives from shore, accommodations, rest and relaxation, all in the land of eagles, dolphins, sea-lions and whales. We've even had sea otters join us for a dive, and dolphins regularly show up to run with the boat! While off-gassing you can hike the island or explore it in kayaks, or just sleep in the sun. If the weather turns bad, you can always cozy up with a book or a movie in the clubhouse.
The dives are amazing, and take place amongst the straits, channels and islands off the north end of Vancouver Island. The resort is close to Browning Pass and the world-famous Browning Wall. Other frequent dive sites include Barry Islet, Dillon Rock, Nakwakto Rapids, The Wreck of the Themis and Hunt Rock. Expect to see all kinds of creatures, including Wolf Eels, Giant Pacific Octopus, Puget Sound King Crabs, and even such exotics as Gorgonian Coral if the conditions are right!
So grab your gear, your appetite (did we mention the food?) and your camera. God's Pocket is the reason that you are a cold-water diver!
